Winnipeg Police have arrested and charged an 18-year-old male after he and two others were seen allegedly seen in a stolen vehicle near McGregor Street and Selkirk Avenue early Sunday morning, January 8, 2023.

Police said that shortly after the first sighting officers found the vehicle stopped at a gas station in the 100 block of Salter Street. The male and two adult females were placed in custody. One of the females was found with about 11.4 grams of cocaine in her possession.

Members of the Major Crimes unit took over the investigation and learned that four days earlier the male had met a 19-year-old female. On January 5, the pair went to a Redwood Avenue address where the male tried to break in. The female tried to leave in her car but the male assaulted her and took her vehicle keys and cell phone. He then stole her car. The female was taken to the hospital and treated.

James Charles Starr has been charged for his alleged involvement with Robbery, Fail to Comply with Sentence and two outstanding warrants.

A 25-year-old female was charged for drug possession and property offences and released on an Understanding.

A 35-year-old female was released without charges.
