Male and female arrested in exchange student stabbing

Winnipeg Police have arrested a 19-year-old male and a 16-year-old female for the robbery and stabbing of a 23-year-old exchange student from South Korea.

Police say that around 12:30 am on October 28, 2018, they were called to the area of Daley Street and Rosedale Avenue and found the victim suffering from several stab wounds and lacerations to the upper body. Paramedics were called and the male was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

The victim was walking with a friend when they were approached by the suspects. The male suspect pulled a knife and demanded the victim’s property. A fight ensued and the victim was stabbed several times before he was able to wrestle the weapon away from the accused. The female suspect picked up the knife and slashed the victim with it. The victim then turned over his cell phone and the suspects fled.

Police have charged the two suspects with Assault, robbery and weapons offences.

Both were detained in custody.
