Manitoba issued 59 warnings and 32 tickets for breaching COVID-19 restrictions between March 15 and 21.
26 $1,296 tickets wen to individuals. Of those 17 were in relation to gatherings in private residences or outdoors.
Four tickets in the amount of $298 were issued to people who were not wearing a mask in indoor public places.
Two businesses also picked up tickets in the amount of $5,000.
Enforcement officials noted that a 34-year-old has been arrested and charged after an assault on an enforcement officer on February 19, 2021. The incident happened at a carwash on Panet Road after the officer approached the accused and asked him for identification, the man refused. The male was not wearing a mask as required. The officer took photos of the man’s vehicle in order to issue him a ticket later. At this point, the officer was assaulted and his cellphone smashed.
The suspect was charged for his alleged involvement with Assault and Mischief under $5,000. He was released on a promise to appear.
Since April 2020 more than $1.5 million in fines have been issued through 1,082 tickets. Enforcement officers have also issued 3,492 warnings.
