Major fire leads to the destruction of vacant Arlington Street house

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded well-involved fire in a vacant two-storey house in the 400 block of Arlington Street just prior to midnight o May 22, 2022.

When crews arrived they launched a defensive attack. Two aerial ladders were called in to attack the fire as flames burst through the roof. Firefighters on the ground used hand lines to attack the blaze and protect a neighbouring home.

This house was also the scene of fires in August 2020 and again in November 2021.

The fire was declared under control at 2:00 am.

The house suffered significant damage with parts of the front of the building and roof collapsing. Smoke, fire and water are also contributing factors to the structure expected to being a total loss.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
