Buildings burned to the ground in Loudoun Road fire

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to a large fire just after 11:00 pm on Saturday, November 23, 2019, on Loudoun Road.

When crews arrived two buildings were well involved with flames and smoke billowing into the night sky. The glow from the fire could be seen from several kilometres away.

Firefighters spent several hours attacking the blaze in a mostly rural area of the city. Two tanker trucks brought in water from the nearest hydrant on Wilkes Boulevard to keep the pumper trucks supplied.

Officials on scene told News 4 that the main fire was in a building that had been previously used as a dog kennel but there were no animals inside at the time of the fire.

There were no reports of injuries.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
