A major fire broke out in a single-storey commercial/industrial building on the 800 block of Logan Avenue on Sunday evening, causing significant damage and leading to an emergency demolition order.
The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to the incident at 5:51 p.m. after receiving reports of the fire. Upon arrival, crews encountered heavy smoke and flames billowing from the structure.
Due to the dangerous conditions presented by the fire, crews were unable to enter the building. Instead, they launched a defensive fire attack, employing handlines and aerial ladder trucks to douse the flames.
Despite the efforts of the WFPS, the structure has sustained significant damage and is now considered a complete loss. An emergency demolition has been ordered due to the extent of the damage.
In a fortunate turn of events amidst the devastation, no injuries have been reported in relation to the incident. The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the authorities.
