Major Drug Bust in Steinbach: RCMP Seize Drugs, Weapons, and Cash

In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, the Steinbach RCMP General Investigative Section, along with the East District Crime Reduction Enforcement Support Team, carried out a successful raid on a local residence on May 1, 2024.

The operation, stemming from an extensive drug investigation, led to the seizure of a substantial quantity of illegal substances and contraband. Officers confiscated methamphetamine, crack cocaine, psilocybin, 6 kilograms of illicit cannabis, and 45,000 illicit cigarettes. Additionally, a conducted energy weapon, a firearm, and a staggering $140,000.00 in cash were found on the premises.

A 50-year-old woman was apprehended during the raid. She is now facing multiple charges, including those under the Criminal Code, Cannabis Act, and the Tax Administration and Miscellaneous Taxes Act. Following her arrest, she was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.

Authorities have indicated that the investigation is far from over, with expectations of further arrests as the RCMP continues to dismantle the network behind the illegal drug trade in the region.
