Winnipeg Police have a 26-year-old male in custody after he began swinging a machete around in a Maryland Street bar.
Officers were called just after 4:00 pm on Thursday, January 23, 2020, after the man began threatening patrons with the edged weapon. At one point he allegedly swung the blade at two people missing them but hitting a chair, a table and a tv in the process.
The suspect took off before police arrived and went to a home on Victor Street. Once at the residence he began causing more trouble.
Police arrested the suspect who they say was belligerent and extremely agitated.
Charles Knott from Winnipeg is facing charges for his alleged involvement of Assault with a Weapon and Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose.
Knott was also wanted on an outstanding warrant for Fail to Comply with Probation Order.
He has been detained in custody.
