When firefighters arrived to the garden apartment complex they encountered smoke coming from one of the units.

An offensive attack was launched.

Residents of the suite and surrounding suites were able to self-evacuate before crews arrived on scene.

The fire was contained to one unit and had started in the laundry room. Ventilation fans were set up to clear smoke from the multi-floor suite.

Five people were assessed by paramedics on scene but no one required transportation to hospital.

The cause of the fire is under investigation although it appears to have been accidental in nature that began in a clothes dryer
