Lt. Governor Hands Out Historical Awards
On Manitoba’s 146th birthday the Lt. Governor presented five Historical Awards.
The Lieutenant Governor’s Award for Historical Preservation and Promotion was established in 2011 and is presented annually in consultation with the Manitoba Historical Society
The recipients are:
- Shayne Campbell (Argyle);
- Pat Eyolfson (Arborg);
- Gordon McGill (Clearwater);
- Janis McMorran (Clear Lake);
- Raymond Philippot (St. Claude)
“Today’s award recipients have helped to preserve historic structures, artifacts and documents. They have built or sustained museums. They have kept alive our understanding of the specific histories of local communities or industries and placed these stories in a provincial, national and global context.” said Lt. Governor Janice Filmon.
