Commuters planning to cross the Red River via the Louise Bridge will need to find alternate routes this Friday, March 28th, as the bridge will be fully closed to vehicle traffic for a significant portion of the day.
The City of Winnipeg has announced that the Louise Bridge will be shut down in both directions from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. to facilitate essential bridge bearing repairs. The closure is scheduled to avoid the morning and afternoon rush hours, minimizing disruption for many drivers.
While vehicle traffic will be detoured, pedestrians will still be able to cross the river using the west sidewalk of the bridge. Motorists are advised to utilize the Provencher Bridge or the Disraeli Bridges as alternative routes during the closure period.
For those relying on Winnipeg Transit, updates regarding rerouting will be available by following @TransitAlerts on X.
