Lottery ticket thief’s luck finally runs out as police track him down

As News 4 told you in July, Winnipeg police were searching for a thief that had stolen lottery tickets from retail outlets across the city between March and August 2017.

Police say the suspect would go into various gas stations, convenience stores and other businesses and when the clerk was distracted he would steal sleeves of lottery tickets.

Police say that the thief had done the same time more than 30 times since his crime spree began.

On Monday, October 9, 2017, the Major Crimes Unit of the Winnipeg Police arrested an adult male in a home in St. Georges, Manitoba about 117 kilometres northeast of Winnipeg.

Jonathan Roy Fitzsimmons, 29-years-old from St. Georges, Manitoba has been charged with the following offences for his alleged involvement:

  • Theft Under $5000 X32
  • Robbery
  • Possess Weapon
