WINNIPEG WEATHER

It’s game over for a number of people busted with stolen lottery tickets

Winnipeg Police have five people in custody who are connected to the robbery of a Pembina Highway convenience store on Remembrance Day, November 11, 2018.

Police say that around 5:00 am on Sunday two men and a female robbed the store fleeing with a bag filled with cigarettes and lottery tickets.

Police searched the area and found a stolen Hyundai Sonata near Nassau and Jessie. The four occupants were arrested and police seized cigarettes and lottery tickets found inside the vehicle.

The stolen vehicle had been taken from Dudley Avenue on October 20, 2018, but the plates on the car had been stolen on November 10, 2018.

A fifth suspect was tracked by a Police Service Dog to River and Osborne where police say it was apparent the suspect entered a vehicle.

The ongoing investigation led officers to a home on Elgin Avenue where a male suspect was placed in custody. Police say the suspect had the keys to the stolen vehicle in his possession.

The five suspects face a number of robbery related charges for their alleged involvement.
