A 37-year-old man from Long Plain First Nation is in custody after Manitoba First Nations Police Service (MFNPS) responded to an assault complaint. The investigation revealed a prolonged incident of violence and forcible confinement involving an adult female and a youth female at a residence on Yellowquil Trail west.
On March 23, 2025, MFNPS officers acted on a complaint alleging assaults that had occurred over several days. Following an investigation, a search warrant was executed at the residence. During the search, police seized approximately 9 grams of suspected methamphetamine, cash, and numerous imitation firearms.
The accused faces a string of serious charges for his alleged involvement, including:
- Pointing a firearm
- Assault with a weapon
- Assault
- Discharge air gun or air pistol with intent to wound
- Forcible confinement
- Uttering threats against a person
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose (x2)
- Weapons possession contrary to order (x2)
- Possession of property obtained by crime less than or equal to $5000
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking – namely, Methamphetamine
MFNPS confirmed that the incident is classified as Intimate Partner Violence. To protect the victim’s identity, the accused’s name is being withheld.
