Police nab carjacker after driver slams into tree

A 17-year-old female was attacked and carjacked Wednesday evening December 12, 2018, in the 500 block of London Street.

She had just parked her vehicle when she was approached by a female and male. The female suspect pulled out a baton and began hitting the victim. The keys were taken and the pair took off in the stolen vehicle.

The victim did not require medical attention.

Early Thursday morning, around 3:30 am, Police located the stolen vehicle being driven by a female near Toronto Street and St. Matthews. When the driver noticed officers she took off and crashed into a tree a few blocks later.

The driver and passenger tried to get away and fled the vehicle but officers were able to capture both suspects

Alexis Kelly Karen Hourie, 20 from Winnipeg is facing a number of charges for her alleged involvement including Robbery, Flight while Pursued by Peace Officer, Driving While Disqualified, Fraud Under $5000 and three counts of Possession of a Weapon.

Mark Bosadas Marmeto, 28 from Winnipeg, has been charged for his alleged involvement with Robbery, Fraud Under $5000and three counts of Possession of a Weapon.

They were both detained in custody.
