House fire caused by a possible lightning strike during morning storm

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to a fire on Red Spruce Road in Bridgewater this morning around 9:40 am.

When crews arrived they found the roof of the two-storey home on fire. An offensive attack was launched and the fire was brought under control just before 10:30 am.

Officials say the home suffered significant damage to the roof and attic.

One person was home at the time of the fire but was able to get out before firefighters arrived.

The fire is believed to have started due to a lightning strike during the storm that rolled through the city this morning.
