The lightning from the intense thunderstorm that rolled through Winnipeg this morning, July 15, 2019, is the likely cause of an Elmwood house fire.
Fire crews were called to a one and a half storey home in the 100 block of Gordon Avenue just after 8:00 am for a fire in the attic.
Firefighters initiated an offensive attack and battled the blaze for about 45 minutes before it was declared under control.
Everyone inside the home were able to get out prior to emergency crews arriving.
The house suffered extensive damage from the fire, water and smoke.
