Winnipeg Police Service officers were involved in a late-night police chase on Thursday, May 21, 2020.

Just before midnight a silver Mazda sedan with no plates was being pursued by a number of marked police units as it crossed over Route 90 on Portage Avenue.

Police say the pursuit began around 11:00 pm after officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle for its lack of plate.

The Mazda was speeding as it attempted to evade officers.

Minutes later the vehicle turned on to Amherst Street and ended up on the lawn of a home in the 200 block after officers deployed a tire deflation device.

The driver and passenger were quickly placed under arrest. The vehicle suffered significant damage.

Police say the driver and passenger both face a number of criminal charges.
