Late Night Blaze in Abandoned House on Mountain Avenue

A late-night fire broke out at an abandoned two-storey house on Mountain Avenue, prompting a swift response from the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS). The fire was reported at 10:59 p.m. on Tuesday, April 16, and crews were immediately dispatched to the scene.

Upon arrival, the WFPS crews observed smoke billowing from the structure. Without hesitation, they entered the house and launched an aggressive fire attack to extinguish the flames. Their efforts were successful, and the fire was declared under control at 11:37 p.m., less than an hour after the initial report.

Interestingly, the house was not new to such incidents. It had been unoccupied and boarded up following a previous fire on February 2, 2024. Fortunately, similar to the previous incident, no injuries were reported in this fire as well.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. At this time, damage estimates are not available.
