WINNIPEG WEATHER

JUSTICE | MANITOBA COURT SYSTEM 2ND WORST IN CANADA

A new report pegs Manitoba’s justice system as the second worst in Canada. Only the Yukon scored lower and not by much.

The MacDonald-Laurier Institute is a think tank and the publisher of “Report card on the

criminal justice system:Evaluating Canada’s Justice Deficit”

The report ranks Manitoba in 12th place out of 13 and gives us a grade of ‘C’. Prince Edward Island was the best with a grade of B+.

Increasing costs, massive backlogs in courts along with very bad public perceptions of the justice system lead to the low ranking.

The report was put together using data supplied from Statistics Canada.
