1964 – A miniature , ceremonial last spike is driven on the Assinboine Park miniature steam railway. Rides began later that afternoon. The train was brought to Winnipeg from Wyno, Pennsylvania (south of Pittsburgh) by Peter Buzunis and his two brothers. The train was brand new at the time. The train is still owned and operated by the Buzunis family. It is the only coal burning steam train in a city park in Canada.
