July 15, 1870 – The Manitoba Act receives Royal ascent. Manitoba becomes the fifth province in the Dominion of Canada.
July 15th, 1920 – After years of scandal over the construction, the Manitoba Legislative finally opens.
In 1913, the government contracted to construct a new Legislative Building. The tender called for a building costing to be three million dollars, but with all major projects the costs escalated and quickly grew to more than five million.
