Alberta Judge grants bail to Steve Vogelsang, former Winnipeg broadcaster accused of bank robbery

Steve Vogelsang, the former sports reporter and News Director at CKY-Tv in Winnipeg has been granted bail after spending the last seven weeks behind bars accused of bank robbery.

Vogelsang was arrested in Medicine Hat, Alberta on October 21, 2017, after he allegedly robbed two banks in that city, one on October 19 and the other a day later.

Vogelsang is also facing charges in Regina, Saskatchewan for three bank robberies there as well as another bank robbery in Saskatoon.

The Alberta provincial court judge has set strict bail conditions on Vogelsang. He will be allowed to return to Winnipeg to get his affairs in order then he must turn himself in for a psychiatric assessment. The outcome of the assessment will determine if Vogelsang can be held criminally responsible for the robberies in Alberta.

Vogelsang will still have to answer for his alleged involvement in the Saskatchewan robberies.

He is scheduled to appear in an Alberta court on January 23, 2018.
