Jets fans facing assault charges after causing a disturbance in the stands

Winnipeg police have arrested an adult male and an adult female after they allegedly caused a disturbance in the stands during the Winnipeg Jets game on November 29, 2022.

Police say that special duty officers were called in to help Canada Life Centre security after two patrons became uncooperative while being evicted from the game. The pair were accused of causing a disturbance and as security officers were attempting to detain them they were assaulted. Both security officers suffered upped body injuries and were treated at the scene.

When WPS officers arrived they placed both suspects in custody. While being escorted out of the venue the female suspect spat on one of the officers. She was fitted with a spit guard to prevent further assault.

Officers learned through their investigation that a 54-year-old male had intervened to assist security when he was assaulted by the male suspect. During the assault the victim lost his balance and fell onto the boards around the ice causing a laceration to his head. The victim was taken to hospital and treated.

Police say alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the incident.

A 34-year-old male is facing two counts of assault and Resist Peace Officer for his alleged involvement. The 28-year-old female is facing the same charges plus an additional Assault Peace Officer charge.

Both of the accused were released on Undertakings
