IU Investigates Fatal Collision Involving Winnipeg Police Cruiser

The Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba (IIU) has launched an investigation following the tragic death of an adult female who was struck by a police cruiser in Winnipeg.

The incident occurred on the evening of September 2nd, around 9:27 p.m., when officers from the Winnipeg Police Service were patrolling the area near Fort Rouge Park. According to the notification received by the IIU, the police cruiser struck the female, who was subsequently transported to Health Sciences Centre Winnipeg. Unfortunately, she was pronounced deceased upon arrival.

Given the fatal nature of the collision, the IIU has taken over the investigation. Investigators from the IIU were immediately dispatched to the scene to begin their work. Additionally, a request for a civilian monitor will be made to the Manitoba Police Commission to ensure transparency in the investigation process.
