Investigations target known drug traffickers

Winnipeg Police Service Guns and Gangs Unit wrapped up two separate ongoing investigations into drug trafficking in the City of Winnipeg after two suspects were taken into custody.

Police say that they had begun an investigation into the activities of a known drug trafficker in March of this year.

The investigation led officers to a residence in the 600 block of Manhattan Avenue. A search warrant was obtained and executed on April 17, 2022. One male was taken into custody.

During the search officers located $10,000 in cash, about 65 grams of Crack Cocaine (Worth around $6,500 on the street), packaging materials and drug paraphernalia.

A 25-year-old male was charged for his alleged involvement with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking and Possession of Proceeds of Crime.

He was released on a Promise to Appear.

The second investigation began earlier this month and once again targeted the activity of a known drug trafficker.

A search warrant for a home in the 600 block of Main Street resulted in the arrest of a 52-year-old male and the seizure of 1.5 kilos of Meth, cash, an airlift handgun, packaging materials and drug paraphernalia

The accused was charged for his alleged involvement with Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking, Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000 and three counts of Fail to Comply with Firearms Prohibition Order.
