The investigation into an alleged assault of a minor by an off-duty RCMP officer has been stopped.
According to the Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba (IIU) the investigation began in the the August 18, 2020 incident after it received a complaint concerning the alleged assault on August 30, 2020.
Civilian director Zane Tessler determined that it was in the public interest to investigate.
In a release issued on February 11, 2021 the IIU said “After a thorough review of the information provided and gathered, the civilian director determined there is no evidence supporting the allegation that would compel the IIU to proceed further with this investigation.”
The IIU has closed the file on the investigation.
