Investigation leads to two arrests and several firearms seized

After several weeks of investigation into firearms and a Winnipeg male, Winnipeg Police Service’s Firearms Investigation Unit executed a search warrant at a home on Ross Avenue.

An adult male and an adult female were arrested at the scene and officers seized a number of items including:

– Sawed-off 12-gauge Shotgun x 2 (both in a disassembled state)
– Small calibre Gun Barrels x 2
– Trigger Mechanism
– Assorted Loose Firearms Components
– Assorted Ammunition

Police believe the loose parts were going to be used to manufacture zip guns.

42-year-old George Junior McIvor has been charged for his alleged involvement with two counts of Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized, three counts of Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order and two counts of Store Firearm or Restricted Weapon Contrary to Regulations.

A 34-year-old female has been charged for her alleged involvement with two counts of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm and two counts of Store Firearm or Restricted Weapon Contrary to Regulations

McIvor was detained in custody, the female suspect was released on an undertaking.
