Winnipeg Police Service is continuing to investigate a case from 2022 involving multiple sexual assaults.
In April 2022, police began looking into separate sexual assault incidents involving two females in their teens and a woman in her 20s.
According to police, the investigation determined that 42-year-old Michael Edward Bruce allegedly used the alias “Eddie Brigance” on social media to communicate, lure and sexually assault the victims.
Bruce was initially arrested and charged for his alleged involvement on June 27, 2022, with:
- Luring a Person Under 18 years of age by Means of Telecommunication
- Obtaining Sexual Services from a Person Under 18 years of age
- Sexual Assault
- Invitation to Sexual Touching
- Makes, Prints, Publishes or Possess for the Purpose of Publication any Child Pornography
- Luring a Person Under 16 years of age by Means of Telecommunication
- Sexual Interference
He was released on a court order that prohibited him from contacting people under the age of 18.
Officers continued the investigation and additional charges were laid on September 2022. The offences Bruce was charged with are:
- Obtaining Sexual Services from a Person Under 18 years of age
- Sexual Interference
- Sexual Assault x 2
- Invitation to Sexual Touching
