Intoxicated Woman Launches Violent Attack on Winnipeg Transit Bus, Multiple Passengers Assaulted

A chaotic scene unfolded on a Winnipeg Transit bus near Balmoral Street and Sargent Avenue on Monday afternoon, as an intoxicated woman launched a violent attack on multiple passengers, sending one man to hospital.

Winnipeg Police Service officers from the Central District responded to the incident at approximately 4:00 p.m. on March 10, 2025, following reports of a female assaulting passengers. According to police, the 22-year-old suspect, who appeared to be heavily intoxicated and behaving aggressively, began by confronting two unidentified passengers.

The situation quickly escalated as the woman pushed one of the initial passengers. During this assault, a female in her 20s was inadvertently elbowed in the face. The suspect then turned her attention to a male in his 50s, who endured a brutal assault, including punches, bites, and having his hair pulled out.

Fortunately, bystanders intervened, restraining the suspect until police arrived. The male victim was transported to hospital in stable condition for medical treatment. The female victim, who was elbowed in the face, declined medical attention at the scene. The two passengers involved in the initial altercation left the scene before police could identify them.

Police took the 22-year-old female into custody. She is now facing charges of Assault and Assault Cause Bodily Harm for her alleged involvement and was released on an Undertaking.

The Winnipeg Police Service is continuing its investigation into the incident and is working closely with Winnipeg Transit.
