Intoxicated Sandy Bay man facing firearms charges

Manitoba First Nations Police Service (MFNPS) has charged a 19-year-old male from Sandy Bat First Nation with a number of firearm-related offences.

Around midnight on October 22, 2020, police say they were called to a residence in Sandy Bay where an intoxicated male was allegedly in possession of a rifle.

Officers responded and located the suspect exiting a vehicle in the home’s driveway. A loaded rifle was seized. Investigators say that they learned the male had allegedly placed the rifle to his neck at some point prior to their arrival.

The suspect was charged for his alleged involvement with Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm, Unsafe Storage of a Firearm•Possession of a firearm when possession is Unauthorized and Fail to Comply with an Undertaking.

The Suspect was detained in custody to appear in court at a later date.
