Two inmates walk away from minimum security at Stony Mountain Institution

RCMP are on the hunt for two inmates who walked away from the minimum security area of Stony Mountain Institution.

Police say they received a report from the prison just after 10:00 pm on Saturday, February 24, 2018, saying the inmates had fled. According to the prison, both inmates were last seen at a 7:30 pm headcount Saturday.

An exhaustive search of the area did not find any trace of the inmates.

Police say that they believe both inmates are headed for Saskatchewan and warrants for their arrests have been issued.

 

 

Wanted are William Benjamin Hunter-Garrioch, 21 and Dale Jacob Gilchrist, 34.

 

 

Hunter-Garrioch is described as 5’7″ tall, weighing 126 lbs. He has a medium complexion, brown eyes, brown hair and has a scar on his left wrist.

 

 

Gilchrist is 6’2″ tall, weighing 201 lbs. He has a fair complexion, blue eyes and brown hair. He has tattoos on his neck, abdomen, chest, arms, hands and right leg.

 

Both men have a history of violence and should not be approached.
