An inmate at Stony Mountain Institution who was assaulted on January 1, 2022, has died.
The 36-year-old inmate was found unresponsive in his cell in the early morning hours. He was taken to hospital in critical condition. Police say that he died from his injuries on February 7.
RCMP Major Crimes are treating the inmate’s death as a homicide.
