Inmate in critical condition
RCMP have been brought in to investigate a serious assault at Stoney Mountain Correctional Institution.
According to RCMP the corrections staff at the institution discovered a 50 year old male inmate with severe injuries in his cell on February 20, 2017. The inmate was taken to hospital and is still in critical condition.
Officials are not releasing the name of the inmate or the cause of his injuries.
RCMP from Stonewall as well as officers from the Serious Crime Unit are investigating.
