On Wednesday, February 17, 2021, an inmate who was incarcerated for more than 50 years died from what appears to have been natural causes following an illness.
Bruce Allan Kaiser was serving a sentence of 77 years, 8 months and 29 days after being convicted for Rape, Forcible Confinement, Hostage Taking, Sexual Assault with a Weapon, Indecent Assault, Escape Lawful Custody and Break, Enter.
Kaiser began serving his sentence on May 21, 1970.
Correctional Service of Canada will be reviewing the circumstances surrounding his death as they do for all cases involving the death of an inmate.
RCMP and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner have been notified.
