Correctional Service Canada (CSC) says that an inmate at Stony Mountain Institution has died.
On January 5, 2020, 29-year-old inmate Shawn Poitra died from apparent natural causes. He had recently been ill.
Poitra was serving a 10-year sentence for Manslaughter and had been in custody at the facility since March 2018.
The CSC says that Poitra’s next of kin were notified of his death along with police and the medical examiner.
