Manitoba Justice say that on August 27, 2019 a 48-year-old male inmate at Headingley Correctional Centre died.
Justice officials say the inmate died in hospital and the death was reported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner as required by legislation.
The mans family has been notified.
Neither the identity of the inmate nor the circumstances surrounding his death were released citing privacy reasons.
