Correctional Services of Canada announced on Sunday, April 26, 2020, that a 32-year-old inmate has died at Stony Mountain Institution.
Farron Cory Rowan has been identified as the inmate who died but officials have not released the cause of death pending an investigation by the coroner.
Rowan was sentenced to three years, five months and one day in 2018 for robbery and taking a motor vehicle or vessel without consent.
Rowan’s death marks the third prisoner to die within the facility this year.
Officials say that the family of the inmate has been notified of his death as have police and coroner.
An investigation is underway within the facility to determine the circumstances surrounding his death.
