Infant injured in Boyd Avenue serious collision dies

The 10-month-old infant passenger injured during the serious collision on Boyd Avenue at Andrews Street on September 26, 2020, has died from his injuries.

The collision occurred after a vehicle police were attempting to pull over sped away in an attempt to evade officers. Seconds later the fleeing vehicle crashed into another vehicle injuring four people including the infant and another child passenger. The two people inside the fleeing vehicle were also seriously injured. An adult female in the struck vehicle died from her injuries shortly after being taken to hospital.

43-year-old Armand Joseph Jr. Chartrand, the driver of the fleeing vehicle was charged the next day for his alleged involvement with a number of offences.

Police say that Chartrand is expected to be charged in the next few days with additional Criminal Code charges related to the collision.
