Winnipeg Police are investigating after an individual walked into Kildonan-East Collegiate On Thursday afternoon, February 27, 2020 prompting school officials to initiate a school wide hold and secure protocol.
Around 12:30 pm school administration confronted an individual who was found inside the facility and escorted them out. Thirty minutes the person was back in the area. The school was put in lockdown and an emergency call to police was made.
As police began searching the area the school returned to hold and secure around 1:30 pm.
By 2:00 pm the hold and secure was removed and the campus returned to normal operations.
In a letter to parents posted on the school’s website Principal D.F. Macfarlane said “We want to reassure you that safety is of primary concern. We will work with our staff, students, families and the Winnipeg Police Service to ensure that Kildonan-East Collegiate continues to be a safe place for all members of our community.”
