Brandon Police Service has arrested two females after a black male was assaulted and stabbed Thursday evening, September 3, 2020, at a skate park on Princess Avenue.
Police say that around 7:40 pm one male and four females began yelling racial slurs at the victim. A physical fight broke out between the male and the victim. Soon four females join in assaulting the victim with punches and kicks.
The victim was defending himself, according to investigators, and holding down one of his assailants when one of the female suspects pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim five times in the side during which the victim was stabbed by a woman.
In a video of the incident, police said that at this point the victim can be seen walking away with bleeding wounds to his side.
Before officers arrived the victim was taken to Brandon Regional Health Centre by a citizen, say police.
A search of the area located a woman matching the description of one of the suspects. Police found blood on her clothing and a bloody knife in her pocket. She was taken into custody. A second female suspect was found nearby and arrested.
Police have laid charges against a 23-year-old female from Brandon for her alleged involvement of Aggravated Assault with a Weapon, Mischief to Property Under $5000, Public Incitement of Hatred and Failing to Comply with a Release Order.
A 20-year-old female from Sioux Valley is facing charges for her alleged involvement of Assault, Public Incitement of Hatred, Public Mischief and Failing to Comply with a Release Order.
Investigators are still looking for the other three suspects involved in the assault.
Police report the victim underwent surgery but is expected tome a full recovery
