Manitoba Justice reported the death of a 23-year-old male inmate at the Brandon Correctional Centre. The incident occurred on December 29th, and details surrounding the circumstances remain limited.
Brandon Police Service is investigating and said “police received a report of an assault at Brandon Correctional Centre. When members arrived, the 23-year-old male victim was being tended to by paramedics before being taken to the hospital where he was pronounced deceased.”
Manitoba Justice expressed its condolences to the family of the deceased, emphasizing the province’s commitment to respecting the privacy of those involved. Consequently, no further information about the deceased will be disclosed at this time.
In accordance with legislation, the death has also been reported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
