Winnipeg police seized an improvised weapon after being called to the area in the 100 block of McPhillips Street for the report of a male with a weapon.
Officers located the male near McPhillips Street and Bannatyne Avenue. The male brandished the weapon in a threatening manner towards police and refused repeated demands that he drop it.
Officers deployed a taser and were able to take the individual into custody.
The weapon turned out to be a drywall knife duct taped to a table leg.
Fletchet Kenneth Beach, 34 has been charged for his alleged involvement with Possession of a Weapon, Resist Peace Officer and two counts of Fail to Comply with Probation Order.
He was detained in custody.
