A 31 year old female is facing a number of serious charges after she ran into a Cadet directing traffic and then left the scene.
Police say the woman was in traffic at Main Street and Broadway around 11:30 pm when she was given an instruction by a Cadet directing traffic to remain stopped as there was a heavy amount of pedestrians leaving the Forks Canada Day celebration.
The driver became belligerent and ignored the instructions she was given by the peace officer and accelerated through the intersection striking the Cadet causing injuries to his arm. The woman did not stop after striking the Cadet and drove away.
Police officers in the area caught up with the dangerous driver a short distance away and placed her under arrest.
She now faces Dangerous Operation of Motor Vehicle Cause Bodily Harm, Fail to Obey a Peace Officer’s Directions, Fail to remain at the scene of an accident and exchange particulars.
She was released on a promise to appear and will come before a judge in the near future.
