The annual Holiday Checkstop program across Manitoba has come to an end. Here are the numbers in Winnipeg and around the province.

5231 vehicles stopped
106 Roadside breath test conducted resulting in 10 fails & 17 Warnings (72 hr DL suspension)
43 Impaired Driving related arrests

115 Traffic Tickets
The average blood alcohol content of those arrested was twice the legal limit around 160 mg%. The youngest arrested in Winnipeg Police checkstops this holiday season was 21, the oldest was 64, the average age was 37. Of the 43 people arrested for impaired driving offences 33 were male and the other 10 were female.
Winnipeg police say that they will be releasing the names of those arrested for drinking and driving during the checkstop program after all charges against them have been laid.

51 alcohol related tiered administrative roadside suspensions
2153 traffic related provincial statute (Highway Traffic Act) charges laid (majority for speeding and seatbelt offences) along with 130 warnings for various offences
45 Liquor & Gaming Control Act (LGCA) offences
31 Other Criminal Code Driving Offences
1 traffic-related fatality
