Impaired driver charged after driving in the wrong lane

RCMP say that a 30-year-old male is facing a number of traffic offences including impaired driving after he was spotted driving in the wrong lane on Highway 16.

The incident happened around 7:25 pm on December 11, 2020. Police say an officer on patrol had to move on to the shoulder of the highway to avoid a head-on collision. Police captured the vehicle on patrol unit’s dashcam

As the vehicle passed the officer in the wrong lane the officer turned his vehicle around and was quickly able to conduct a traffic stop.

During the traffic stop police received two 911 calls indicating that the same vehicle had almost collided with two other vehicles.

The driver from Minnedosa was charged for his alleged involvement with Impaired Operation, Refusal to Comply with a Breath Demand, along with charges under the Highway Traffic Act for Drive without a Licence, Drive an Unregistered vehicle and Drive without Insurance.
