Illegal drugs hidden inside Kraft Dinner boxes

RCMP in Thompson has arrested three people in connection to a drug bust in northern Manitoba.

On Thursday, April 15, 2021, officers got wind that a shipment of illegal drugs were destined to Nisichawayasihk Cree Nation through a delivery service. Police seized the shipment that included a case of Kraft Dinner and a box of baby formula.

Investigators noticed that both boxes appeared to have been opened and resealed.

Further investigation uncovered baggies of dried cannabis inside the KD packages totalling about 480 grams. The baby formula containers were filled with alcohol and inside the box containing the formula RCMP found Oxycodone and Alprazolam pills.

Police were able to link the alcohol and pills to a residence on Martin Bay in Thompson and executed a search warrant early Friday morning. A search of the home uncovered 694 grams of cannabis as well as drug paraphernalia.

Mac Labelle, 45, Tina Spence, 31, and Derek Vivier, 46, all from Thompson were arrested and charged for their alleged involvement with multiple offences, including Trafficking x2, Distribution of Illicit Cannabis, Possession of Cannabis for the Purpose of Selling, and Unauthorized Sale of Liquor.

Police say one other female was arrested but has not been charged.

The investigation continues.
