On October 24, 2018, Winnipeg Police were in pursuit of a male suspect in the William Whyte area of the city when the suspect stepped out into the road and collided with a police cruiser.
Police say that one officer was chasing the suspect on foot and their partner was in the cruiser that suspect ran into.
The male suspect was arrested and taken to hospital where he had to undergo surgery to repair a fractured pelvis.
Because the suspect was injured during the incident it was reported to the Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba (IIU).
The IIU is mandated to investigate the incident as the injury sustained by the suspect is considered serious.
