Manitoba’s police watchdog agency investigating New Brunswick shooting

The Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba (IIU) has been called in to investigate police-involved shooting in New Brunswick.

New Brunswick does not have an agency that investigates serious incidents involving the police.

The IIU says that the case they have been asked to investigate relates to the shooting of a 27-year-old male robbery suspect who was shot by RCMP while they attempted to make a traffic stop.

The male was wanted for a number of robberies in Moncton.

The suspect suffered minor injuries and was released back into police custody after being treated in hospital.

The IIU was asked to investigate by New Brunswick RCMP.
