An investigation into a vehicle collision involving an RCMP officer near Winnipegosis on May 21, 2021, has concluded that there are reasonable grounds to believe a Highway Traffic Act offence occurred.
According to the Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba (IIU) they began the investigation after learning that a female sustained a fractured rib in the collision which is considered a serious injury during the collision.
The IIU said that the officer was initiating a traffic stop and was completing a U-turn when a collision occurred with a civilian vehicle on Highway 20. The IIU said that the emergency lights on the RCMP cruiser were activated at the time of the collision.
The officer has been issued a Provincial Offence Act ticket for proceeding before safe to do so.
